Sub‑Chapter III STAINLESS STEEL
GENERAL Heat‑resisting steel, creep‑resisting steel and any other steel complying with the specified criteria in Note 1 (e) to this Chapter are to be classified as stainless steel. Because of its high resistance to corrosion, stainless steel is put to a very wide range of uses, e.g., in the manufacture of silencers, catalytic converters or transformer tanks. This sub‑Chapter covers stainless steel in the forms mentioned in headings 72.18 to 72.23.
